synopsis

La belle époque and timid writer Jean-Pierre Léaud is invited to visit the title anglaises at their Welsh home and then moves in and out of love with both over the years. The flip side of Jules and Jim (adapted from a novel by Henri-Pierre Roché, who wrote both), perhaps Truffaut's most delicate evocation of love at the mercy of time.
