synopsis

"Bridging the Gap" is a short documentary film scheme run by the Scottish Documentary Institute, last year commissioning short films on the theme of Lies. A broad range of stories unfolded, including an exploration of a man's confession about his human rights crimes in Mexico; an insight into the meticulous work of the Tooth Fairy; a journey through the mind of Rudolf Hess during his solo flight to Scotland in 1941 and a moving portrait about the Scottish ballad singer/traveller Sheila Stewart.
