synopsis

Dilber Baguc, who grows up listening to Turkish folk music, immigrates to Düzce from Mara? with her family at the age of nine. She cannot live her childhood. She is constantly subjected to her father's violence. When Dilber is fifteen years old, the TRT Radio organizes a local singing contest. Dilber participates in the competition. Dilber's father, upon hearing that his daughter joined the singing contest, breaks her fingers with wooden spoon. He marries Dilber off to an older man in return for the bride price. This time, Dilber is subjected to her husband's violence. Dilber, who gives birth to three children from two separate marriages, years later learns that he came first at the TRT Radio's contest. She sneaks away from her family to Ankara. She wins the public approval with the Barak folk songs she sings on TRT Radios. Yet she has to perform at night to make a living. She takes on the name of "Dilber Ay" for the stage. The night life will bring a lot of troubles upon her. In one of those challenging nights, she finds Ibrahim, the lover she has been looking for. For the first time ever in her life, she is truly happy.
