Football is easily one of the largest and most prominent aspect of American culture. Falling under the banner of "entertainment industry", the NFL and college football constantly dominates the ratings week after week, year after year. But where does passion and intensity begin? How does it grow? And more importantly, why? In "The Roughnecks," filmmaker and Travese City native Richard Cameron White follows the enigmatic Ridglea Roughnecks of Fort Worth, TX during their final season of Pee Wee football. By embedding himself with the team for over 4 months and by focusing on specific players, parents and coaches, audiences are given an opportunity to transport themselves and remember what it feels like to be 11-years-old again, if only for an hour and a half.
