Snake Dancer (NR)

synopsis

South Africa's charismatic king of exploitation cinema, Dirk de Villiers was often criticised for being a maverick who would turn his hand to anything from cowboy spinoffs to flatulent comedy, he was a cinematic glutton who adored Alejandro Jodorowsky and even made a stab at being a South African Ingmar Bergman. With Snake Dancer prepare for an eye-popping journey through swinging white South Africa with a young Afrikaans religious virgin, who liked to dance. Her name was Glenda Kemp and not only did she dance like a dervish but she also suggestively twirled a live python and took every stitch of her clothes off. Unsurprisingly this explicit film evoking her life never saw the light in heavily censored South Africa.
