Xi'an Incident (NR)

synopsis

This film depicts the events surrounding what has become known as the Xi'an Incident -- a critically important historical event during the Sino-Japanese conflict. It took place on the morning of Dec. 12th, 1936. Two Nationalist generals, Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng, ordered their troops to capture and detain their leader, Chiang Kai-Shek, in Xi'an, forcing him to negotiate with the armies of the CCP in order to combine all their forces into an anti-Japanese alliance. This action was key to putting an end to the Japanese occupation of China.
