South Georgia is a barren, remote island majestic set alone in the great Southern Sea. Yet in the spring and summer months, this majestic and miraculous island plays host to some of the largest concentrations of animals anywhere on Earth, including half the world's southern elephant seals and thousands of king and macaroni penguins and fur seals. This is the story of these vast animal cities, and of the order that lies beneath their seeming chaos.
