synopsis

Jenny is a hospital PR manager assigned to write an article about child abuse after a young boy named Billy is airlifted to the hospital, having been beaten into a coma, presumably by his stepfather, Thomas. To help her get a personal take on the story, Jenny is further assigned to be Billy's "auntie" as part of an in-hospital guardian program for children without relatives in the area. When Thomas sneaks into Billy's hospital room, Jenny questions him about how Billy ended up in the hospital. Thomas reveals that Billy's mother, Rachel, is unstable and beat him. Once Billy wakes up, he confirms his stepdad's story. Realizing Billy has bonded with Jenny, Rachel accuses Jenny of hurting Billy and files a restraining order against Jenny. Determined to seek justice, Jenny risks everything to prove Rachel is an unfit mother and protect Billy.
