synopsis

Leslie, a rebellious young woman living in New York's East Village, moves in and out of a series of empty relationships. One night at a party, she steals a purse, which contains a clue to her mysterious past. Hitching a ride with her quirky friends in their beat-up Volvo, she sets out on a meandering road trip which ultimately leads to a revealing confrontation with her estranged mother somewhere in the Virginia countryside.
