synopsis

Kathy Deane is a passionate archaeologist, who lives with Tim, a successful architect. On the surface life is good until she is diagnosed with a rare brain condition. Fronto-Temporal Degeneration affects the temporal lobes, which govern empathy and the higher functions, such as planning and decision-making. Rather than face up to her illness, Kathy leaves the safety of her marriage for Nick, a man she barely knows. A charming drifter, Nick takes Kathy to his childhood home, the Peninsula. She instantly falls in love with this eerie, atmospheric merging of land, sky and water that seems cut off from the rest of the world.
