Native Program 5: The Flip Side (NR)

synopsis

When Darius Delacruz comes home from college for the summer, he has a new, more politically informed view of his Filipino heritage. He sets out on a mission wearing a tribal loincloth and insists on speaking Tagalog at the family dinner table. Darius confronts his wanna-be-white sister, who's contemplating a nose job, and his wanna-be-black brother, who's into rap music and, at five feet five inches, the NBA. The beauty of Darius's crusade is in the personal transformation of his grandfather, who comes alive when Darius is interested in their homeland and history.
