synopsis

Meghmallar a story of fear, courage, despair, and hope in the time of war. It was the monsoon of 1971. The Liberation War for Bangladesh had started to gain momentum. In this testing time an ordinary family goes through a life altering experience in a span of just three days. Meghmallar narrates this tragic tale.

The main protagonist of this tale is Nurul Huda, a chemistry teacher of a Government college in a provincial town. His middle class existence revolves around his wife Asma and 5 years old daughter Sudha. They have another person living with them, Mintu, Asma's brother.

Suddenly one morning they find that Mintu has left, without informing anyone, to join the freedom fighters. This unexpected turn of event puts Nurul Huda in a crisis. But he tries to act normal by attending the college regularly. He even panders to his pro-Pakistani colleagues. Plagued by fear, dilemma and confusion, that defines his middle class identity; he finds it difficult to cope with the situation.
