synopsis

Would you leave everything to follow a Zen master? In the mountains high above Santa Cruz, California a group of eclectic people live a monk-like existence in the pursuit of enlightenment. Zen master "Umi" is at the center of it all and his followers choose to give up their privacy, dress only in blue, eat meals in silence, donate all earnings to a common fund, separate from their families and change their names. What kind of person does this? The film seeks to answer that question. The road to enlightenment is rocky.
